Welcome to our team page for Roswell Park’s first-ever Day of Giving. We’re excited for this 24-hour give-a-thon!
Because our Day of Giving is an opportunity for you to direct your donation to research areas that mean the most to you, and by giving to leukemia research, you can make a huge impact for patients facing this disease.
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow that can occur in both children and adults. It is the most common cancer among children and teens, accounting for 1 of every 3 cases. In addition, many older adults present with myeloid cancers (myelodysplastic syndrome, myeloproliferative neoplasms). The specialists at Roswell Park treat all types of leukemia and myeloid cancers as well as other blood disorders.
We offer the broadest array of clinical trials for treatment of leukemia and myeloid blood cancers available in Western/Central New York. As an example, seven of the nine approved drugs for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in the last two years were given to patients here at Roswell Park on clinical trials months to years prior to their commercial release. Thanks to research and groundbreaking new therapies, we have more leukemia survivors today than ever before. However, the work is not done. Although many patients are living longer, many still need high dose chemotherapy and/or bone marrow transplant in order to achieve cure. Day after day, all the members of the leukemia team are working on clinical trials and laboratory research on these blood cancers.
Roswell Park, donations allow us to pursue and advance research, bring the
latest treatment options to our patients and help them maintain the best
possible quality of life. Our team is
committed to increasing survival rates, developing new treatments, providing
access to new therapies through clinical trials, and offering supportive
services for our patients throughout their cancer journey.
But we need your help! Please consider making a donation today as part of our Day of Giving. The support of generous donors like you allows us to stay on the cutting edge of leukemia research under the leadership of Dr. Eunice Wang and to provide compassionate care to all our patients.
On behalf of the patients and families we serve, thank you for making a difference.
